Hydroponics 101

Hydroponics is growing plants without soil.  It is a very efficient way to provide food and water to your plants. There's no worry about soil-born diseases or pests, and there's no weeding.   You are not dependent on the sun, so you can grow anywhere, anytime.

If you are looking for fresh vegetables year round, hydroponics is your answer. It's also a great way to grow spices and herbs, and flowers.

There are several factors that influence plant growth in hydroponics: lighting, temperature, and humidity are three of the main ones. Nutrient management is another factor that influences your growth.

You may be asking why hydroponics?

You get higher yields and bigger plants than in soil
plant growth is 50% faster than in soil
More efficient use of water and plant food
less pests, especially indoors, so less pesticides needed
you can grow even in the middle of winter

May be used as a plant and area spray, added to nutrient reservoirs or used as a soil drench. For hydroponics, it is recommended to add directly to reservoirs on a regular basis as part of a plant maintenance program. For planting mixes, may be added to liquid fertilizers.
